Posey County commissioners approve vehicle bid, contracts and multiple facility projects

At their Feb. 3 meeting in Mt. Vernon, the Posey County Board of Commissioners approved a Kelley Chevrolet bid for sheriff vehicles, renewed the county attorney contract, authorized an EREP six-month contract, accepted several Hafer project-management proposals and OK'd a Health Department remodel bid and highway truck leases.
The Posey County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 3 approved a series of routine purchases and contracts aimed at maintaining county operations and facilities.
Commissioner Bill Collins opened the meeting at the Hovey House and announced that the board accepted a bid from Kelley Chevrolet for sheriff vehicles at $53,688.00 per vehicle; Posey County Sheriff Tom Latham said the bid met the specifications. Commissioner Eric Koester moved to accept the Kelley Chevrolet bid and Commissioner Greg Newman seconded; the motion carried 3-0.
The board approved the 2026 county attorney contract as presented, with Commissioner Eric Koester moving and Greg Newman seconding; the contract was described as unchanged from the prior year and the motion passed 3-0.
Officials approved a six-month contract with EREP for $62,841.50 (motion by E. Koester; second G. Newman; vote 3-0). Commissioners also approved three project-management proposals from Hafer that will move three facility projects into the solicitation and oversight phase: an Annex camera scope ($2,800), new carpet for the Coliseum ($14,400) and courthouse painting, sandblasting and window work ($59,200). Each Hafer proposal was approved in separate motions, all carried 3-0.
Posey County Health Department staff provided three remodel bids and identified Mike Greenwell Construction as the low bidder at $29,450.00. The board accepted that low bid, with Greg Newman moving and Eric Koester seconding; the cost will be covered from 2025 HFI carry-over funds and the motion carried 3-0.
Highway Superintendent Steve Schenk presented lease agreements for two new dump trucks with annual payments of $70,414.12 per truck payable over three annual lease payments; Commissioners approved the leases (motion by E. Koester; second G. Newman; vote 3-0).
The board also approved routine items at the start of the meeting: minutes from Jan. 21 (motion by G. Newman; second E. Koester), executive session minutes and the presented claims (each motion carried 3-0).
The board logged these approvals as part of regular operations; several items will proceed to procurement or project implementation steps overseen by county staff and the contracted project manager.
