Putnam County approves estimate for courtroom floor replacement pending Council appropriation

The board approved selecting Edward Hicks' $19,606 estimate to replace courtroom and adjacent carpeting, with funding contingent on a County Council additional appropriation request to be considered in February.
Judge Headley asked the Putnam County Board of Commissioners to replace 21‑year‑old carpeting in the courtroom, jury room, the judge's office and bathroom, public defender space and juvenile probation office.
Two written estimates were presented: Edward Hicks at $19,606 and Hicks & Son at $20,362. Commissioner Tom Helmer moved to approve the Edward Hicks estimate and requested that the work be paid from the cumulative capital development fund. The board made the approval contingent on the County Council authorizing the additional appropriation; Helmer's motion was seconded by Rick Woodall and passed unanimously.
The board's approval at the meeting authorized selection of the contractor and the funding source subject to Council action in February; no purchase order or payment will be issued until the Council approves the appropriation.
