LaGrange County Council keeps Jim Young as president, confirms board and committee assignments

Vice President Jeff Campos called the LaGrange County Council to order on Jan. 12 and the Council immediately voted to retain Jim Young as County Council president with Jeff Campos remaining vice president.
Council Member Mike Strawser moved to retain the leadership; Harold Gingerich seconded the motion, and the measure carried unanimously. The Council then presented and approved a series of committee and board assignments, including representation on the LaGrange County Community Foundation Finance Committee, the Council on Aging Board, the Plan Commission and several other county advisory bodies.
Among individual appointments, the Council appointed Donita Brill to the Local Alcoholic Beverage Board; that motion carried with Council Member Jeffrey L. Brill recorded as abstaining. The Council also appointed Paul Baker to the LaGrange County Park & Recreation Board and approved Thomas Tribbett and Mark Leu for seats on the LaGrange County Redevelopment Commission. The Council re-appointed Jim Young as its representative to the Redevelopment Commission. All of those motions were moved, seconded and carried by vote during the session.
The appointments reflect the Council’s internal organization for 2026 and assign members as liaisons to various county departments and external entities. No formal objections to the slate (other than the single abstention noted) were recorded at the meeting.
The Council approved the appointments as part of its routine reorganization and moved on to other agenda items, including budget assignments and a series of financial resolutions later in the session.
