Sheriff reports jail update; county animal shelter operating during short staffing

Sheriff Rick Meyer presented the November 2025 jail report at the Dec. 17 Jackson County Council meeting and updated members on the animal shelter's status amid short staffing. Meyer said part-time staff are performing well and inmates assist on weekends to maintain shelter operations.
Auditor Melissa Gray presented November fund balances and the Treasurer's report, reporting that fall settlement payouts were completed Dec. 10 and that a corrected 2026 holiday schedule (including election days) was distributed. Centerstone's FY25 annual county report was also distributed to council members.
Brett Turner noted the courthouse decorations for the holidays, and Turner moved to adjourn; Jacquelyn Jasinski seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
