Macon County confirms Board of Health appointees and approves consent agenda

The board appointed six members to the Board of Health under N.C.G.S. 130A-35 and unanimously approved several consent items including budget amendments, a municipal-lease letter for a fire department, a service-weapon surplus and tax releases totaling $12,110.30.
At the Feb. 11 meeting the Macon County Board of Commissioners carried out required statutory appointments and approved its consent agenda.
Attorney Eric Ridenour explained the N.C.G.S. 130A-35 requirement for professional-designated appointments to the Board of Health, distributed ballots, and read the results. The board unanimously appointed Angie Stone as the nurse representative; Dr. Roy Lenzo as the veterinarian representative; Dr. Carlos Vargas as the physician representative; and Jerry Hermanson, Steve Grisson and Dr. Nathan Fiebleman as general public representatives.
The board also approved the consent agenda unanimously. Consent items included the Jan. 14, 2025, regular meeting minutes and the Jan. 23, 2025, continued session minutes; budget amendments #187–195; a letter supporting a municipal lease and option agreement for Cullasaja Gorge Volunteer Fire Department apparatus; authorization to surplus a service weapon for Scott Nelson; tax releases for January 2025 totaling $12,110.30; and the monthly ad valorem tax collection report.
No votes or motions failed at the meeting and no closed session was recorded.
