Franklin High School demolition underway; Macon County Library structure stabilized, foundation work next

County and contractor representatives updated the Board of Commissioners on two major capital projects at the Feb. 11 meeting.
Carroll Daniel Construction reported demolition is underway at the Franklin High School stadium portion. Joey Cain said the project is in full demolition mode with no current schedule or budget impacts; officials said the stadium and track are planned to be returned to the school in April or May 2026, the new campus move-in is targeted for April or May 2027, and project completion for all work is expected by April 2028. The contractor also said the student parking lot will be addressed this summer.
Interim County Manager Warren Cabe reported the Macon County Library project has progressed to removal of deteriorated support posts and stabilization of the structure; crews will rebuild the foundations of the posts, then move to interior work. Cabe said the county is ready to open a separate bidding process for a roof project that is budgeted but not part of the current stabilization contract.
No schedule or budget impacts were reported for either project during the meeting.
