Interim County Manager Warren Cabe told the Macon County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 14 that the county has combined its Code Enforcement and Planning functions into a single department called Planning, Permitting and Development and has hired Joe Allen to serve as director. Cabe said the consolidation is effective immediately and described the reorganization as intended to centralize permitting functions and streamline enforcement and planning review processes.
The announcement was made during opening remarks; Cabe also said the board will postpone watershed and floodplain agenda items while the county awaits updated FEMA mapping and other information. He said the Lake Emory Dam recommendation has been referred back to the board and will be discussed during budget sessions.
