Grant County Quorum Court approves grant application, budget amendments and new fund; multiple motions pass unanimously

On July 21, 2025 the court approved a grant application for up to $1.5 million for the Grant County Health Department, adopted budget amendments for sheriff vehicle replacements and courthouse safety work, and created a new fund to process rural fire department grants, among other routine actions.
The Grant County Quorum Court on July 21 approved several administrative and financial measures, voting unanimously on each recorded motion.
The court approved Resolution 2025-04 to recognize the Arkansas 250 Commission. It then approved Resolution 2025-05 authorizing the county judge to apply for a grant—up to $1,500,000—to renovate the second floor of the Grant County Annex for the Grant County Health Department. Justice Jason Roshto moved the grant authorization and Justice Paul Drake seconded; the motion passed 7-0.
Treasurer Tim Stuckey presented an appropriation ordinance (2025-12) to amend the 2025 annual budget to fund replacement of two Grant County Sheriff’s Office vehicles that were totaled in wrecks and to construct a wall and sidewalks on the courthouse’s west side for public-safety improvements. The court adopted the appropriation (motion by Justice Mike Nevens, second by Justice Mark Allen) by a 7-0 vote.
Ordinance 2025-13 established a new county fund, as required by state law, to allow rural fire departments to process grants through the county. The court moved to suspend second and third readings and adopted the ordinance (motions by Justice Jason Roshto and Justice Mark Allen); vote 7-0 and the ordinance was declared an emergency.
Other routine business included submission of a sales tax report and approval of a $1,500 expenditure requested by Circuit Court for a computer to support Zoom calls in the jail; that expenditure was approved on a 7-0 vote (motion by Justice Jason Roshto, second by Justice Paul Drake). The meeting then adjourned.
