Grant County Quorum Court adopts meeting schedule, creates sheriff’s fee fund and approves year-end budget fixes

Grant County Judge Randy Pruitt called the Quorum Court to order on Jan. 21, 2025, at the Grant County Courthouse. The court unanimously approved two ordinances — one that establishes the date, time and place for future quorum court meetings and another that creates a new fund for the Sheriff’s Office to collect installment fees on fines — and adopted two year-end budget amendment ordinances. Treasurer Tim Stuckey reported the county finished the year in good financial shape and presented a strong sales-tax report.
The court began by approving minutes from three prior meetings (Dec. 16, 2024; Dec. 30, 2024; and Jan. 6, 2025). Motions to approve were made and seconded by sitting justices; each motion passed on unanimous 8–0 votes.
Treasurer Tim Stuckey told the court it had closed the year with “good financials” and recommended accepting the year-end financial statement; the court voted 8–0 to accept the report. Stuckey subsequently presented the sales-tax figures and said the month reflected the county’s largest sales-tax intake outside the COVID period.
On ordinance business, the court considered Ordinance 2025-01, which sets the date, time and place for Quorum Court meetings. After suspending the second and third readings, Justice Tony Carder moved for adoption and Justice Danny Bone seconded; the measure passed 8–0.
Treasurer Stuckey explained Ordinance 2025-02 would establish a new fund for the Sheriff’s Office to collect installment fees when fines are paid in installments. The court suspended the remaining readings and adopted the ordinance by unanimous vote.
The court then took up Appropriation Ordinance 2025-03, a routine year-end supplemental appropriation and transfers to the 2024 budget. With no discussion, the court approved the ordinance 8–0. Appropriation Ordinance 2025-04, described by Stuckey as sectional adjustments to job allocations and a correction to an incorrectly entered salary, was approved with a correction to a number on the Election line; the specific corrected figure was not specified in the record. That ordinance also passed 8–0.
With no other business, Judge Pruitt called for adjournment.
