Grant County Quorum Court approves routine reports, a grant application and fire department namings

The Grant County Quorum Court met on Feb. 18, 2025, and adopted a series of routine motions and ceremonial approvals by unanimous votes.
The court approved the Jan. 21, 2025 meeting minutes on a motion by Justice Mike Nevens, seconded by Justice Mark Allen (vote 8-0). The presented financial statement was accepted on a motion by Justice Mike Nevens, seconded by Justice Tony Carder (vote 8-0).
Justice Mark Allen reported that the Calvert Fire Department requested the court's blessing to name department buildings for Everette Watson and Buddy Gibbs. Justice Jason Roshto moved approval; Justice Mike Nevens seconded and the court voted 8-0 to give its blessing.
Judge Randy Pruitt introduced the Prosecutor's annual fee account report; Prosecutor Teresa Howell noted the report reflects fees collected from their working account. Treasurer Tim Stuckey presented the sales tax report and said it reflected the largest sales tax month in the reporting period (no votes required for those reports).
The court also adopted Resolution 2025-01 authorizing the county judge to apply for a $15,000 grant on behalf of the Grapevine Volunteer Fire Department to help acquire a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) with a fire and rescue skid; Grapevine plans to contribute $22,349.02 toward the purchase. Justice Mike Nevens moved adoption; Justice Paul Drake seconded and the court voted 8-0.
With no other business on the agenda, the court adjourned.
