The court then read Grant County Ordinance No. 2025-23, the annual operating budget for calendar year 2026. During discussion Justice Mike Nevens identified key budget items including a 4% salary increase for county employees, an additional deputy position for the sheriff’s office, increased longevity pay, planned courthouse repairs, a replacement truck for the Rescue Unit and the addition of a third vehicle for the sheriff. Justice Tony Carder moved to adopt the 2026 operating budget; Justice Mike Nevens seconded. The recorded vote on the ordinance was 8–0 in favor. The court also voted 8–0 to suspend the second and third readings of the ordinance. These actions complete the court’s formal approval of the county’s 2026 spending plan.
