Portage County committee gets schematic designs and schedule; finance vote, GMP needed before contracts

"There'll be a finance committee meeting on November 10," the presenter said, and the presenter added the county board could consider multiple resolutions and some contract approvals around Nov. 18 once a GMP (guaranteed maximum price) is set.
The presenter emphasized phasing and financing choices: contractor costs are expected to include construction numbers and contingencies, and the county will need to consider long-term debt or borrowing to fund the projects. He also urged members to focus on overall improvements — daylighting, sight lines and operations — while recognizing not every preferred design element will be included in phase 1.
No formal financing votes or contract approvals were taken at this meeting. Staff said members will see design and budget figures at the Oct. 30 meeting and that the committee should expect contract and resolution items to follow once GMPs are finalized.
