Council clears right-of-way easements to keep Northern Historic District infrastructure on schedule

Council voted to read and consider a package of ordinances that authorize the city manager to acquire small property interests needed for the Northern Historic District Infrastructure Improvements Project.
Jeanne Willis presented the staff report and said there were no changes since the first reading on Jan. 20. Ordinances (02-26, 03-26 and 04-26 through 06-26) authorize the acquisition of small fee-simple deeds, permanent utility easements and temporary right-of-way easements from multiple property owners (parcel sizes described in the packet ranged from approximately 0.005 to 0.053 acres) for the public purpose of constructing and improving roadway infrastructure that will be open to the public without charge.
Willis said the legislation will allow the project to remain on schedule and proceed to construction; there were no public speakers on these items. Council unanimously approved the motions to waive rules and read the ordinances together and then approved the items on roll calls recorded in the meeting packet.
Staff noted that these acquisitions are routine and aimed at ensuring the Northern Historic District work is not delayed. If adopted, the ordinances authorize staff to execute conveyance documents and related contracts and begin construction preparations.
