An EMS official said the FAP funds are distributed per capita and are intended for EMR groups for purchases such as equipment and for training. "This FAP is designed by per capita... they apply and have equipment purchases or things to that nature that we would reimburse them for," the EMS official said, and added the grant can include additional individual training.
Committee members discussed timing: staff noted the award was received in 2025 but will largely be spent in 2026, and a staff member asked that the budget amendment reference 2026 rather than 2025. The committee moved, seconded and carried both the award acceptance and the budget adjustment.
The EMS official said final allocation details will be brought forward once the county finance department and the sheriff's office finalize a fair program for distributing funds to local EMR groups.
