The Hillsdale Tax Increment Finance Authority voted to authorize structural work to finish the organ installation at the Dawn Theater, approving a motion that permits Hillsdale Handyman and subcontractors to complete installation work. The motion was made by Luke Robson, seconded by Mike Clark and recorded as "motion carried."
Chair Andrew Gelzer described the proposed blower-room location in the theater basement and said the organ restorer and the organization he represents signed off on the location specifications. Gelzer told the board the blower box would be sealed and could be insulated and finished with drywall to reduce noise and potential air loss.
Gelzer also reported that the theater’s electrical service capacity is 400 amps and that adding the blower motor would increase load by about 20 amps; he said there was no concern that this addition would overexert the system. The board recorded that a copy of a key will be cut for the contractor to complete the work.
The board approved Robson’s motion to authorize structural work by Hillsdale Handyman and subcontractors to conclude the organ installation. No vote tallies were provided in the minutes; the action is recorded as "motion carried."
Next steps: the contractor is authorized to proceed and a key will be provided to facilitate access for the installation.
