City says it will receive OPWC supplemental grants for Hydroxy Road and Edgewater waterline projects

At the Dec. 15 Vermilion City Council meeting the Service Director reported that the Erie Regional Planning Commission notified the city it will receive supplemental grant funding through the Ohio Public Works Commission for two projects submitted this year.
The Service Director described the Hydroxy Road Reconstruction Phase 4 project as including roadway widening, full-depth asphalt replacement, ditch reestablishment and storm-sewer replacement. He described the Edgewater Boulevard project as a continuation of waterline replacement work completed this summer, starting at Overland Road and proceeding east to the roadway end; that work will abandon a current 6-inch water line and install approximately 3,560 linear feet of new 8-inch main with new service connections at side streets and replacement of fire hydrants.
The Service Director said the city will proceed to incorporate the supplemental funding into project plans; he did not present a final construction schedule at the meeting. Council members asked clarifying questions about scope and easements; staff said the projects will proceed through standard right-of-way and bidding processes.
The council did not vote on these projects at the meeting; the funding notice was presented as an informational report and next steps will be final engineering, easement resolution and procurement.
