Residents press Ada council on sidewalk upkeep; police report condemned building and administrator outlines cleanup plan

Resident Kevin Wagner told council his concerns about snow removal, cracked sidewalks and tree-root damage and urged the village to enforce ordinances governing property-owner responsibilities for sidewalk upkeep. Council did not record a formal response or a follow-up directive in the minutes beyond noting the comment; Chief Alec Cooper offered to meet separately with Joshua Culp about that individual's business concern.
Police Chief Alec Cooper told the council there have been 116 calls for service since the prior meeting, eight incident/offense reports and one vehicle accident. Chief Cooper reported that the building at 125 S. Main has been condemned.
Village Administrator Amanda Sears said a fire investigation has concluded but the written report will be released in several weeks. Sears stated the property owner has 90 days to clean up the site; if the owner fails to act the village will remove the front brick wall and install fencing at an estimated cost of $8,100 and bill the owner. Sears also announced the Strategic Plan kickoff presentation is scheduled for the March 17 council meeting.
What happens next: Chief Cooper will meet with Joshua Culp to discuss his business concern. The property-cleanup timeline begins when the notice period lapses; the meeting packet lists a Streets Committee meeting for March 17 where removed ordinances may be discussed.
