Several residents used the public-comment period at the Village of Ada council meeting on Feb. 17 to raise local concerns and introduce themselves to council.
Paul Osborne introduced himself as a candidate for County Commissioner. Resident Doyle Long urged council to address pedestrian and traffic issues at the Main and Lincoln intersection near the McDonald’s, asked for a designated handicap parking spot beside the Methodist Church, and requested review of school-zone signage heading east on State Route 81. Kevin Wagner delivered a written list of concerns; the minutes note his document is attached.
Council did not take immediate action during public comment but moved on to routine business. Fiscal Officer Patty Navin reported the bank reconciliations and the Fiscal Officer’s annual report were available for review and confirmed the 2025 Hinkle report has been filed with the Ohio State Auditor; she also said two replaced vehicles were sold on GovDeals. Police Chief Alec Cooper reported 89 calls for service since the previous meeting, eight incident/offense reports and two vehicle accident reports; he said the National Night Out kickoff meeting has occurred and planning is underway.
Village Administrator Amanda Sears told council the Strategic Plan kickoff presentation is scheduled for the March 17 meeting and reminded members of the Ada Chamber’s Distinguished Awards Night on Feb. 26.
Next steps: Council referred traffic and signage concerns to staff for review and scheduling with appropriate departments; the Strategic Plan kickoff will appear on the March 17 agenda.
