Reeves County GCD schedules building closing Jan. 20; title inspection and vacancy affidavit remain unresolved

District staff and counsel reported that the Reeves County Groundwater Conservation District is scheduled to close on a building (Lots 1–4, Block 67, ORGPECOS) on Jan. 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Permian Basin Abstract Company. President Benjamin Burnham and Secretary Ginny Barmore were identified as authorized signers who will attend closing.
Counsel Emily Rogers said the district has filed title objections and the title company will conduct an inspection to verify whether any tenants are present because the seller declined to sign an affidavit affirming vacancy. General Manager Greg told the board he had been told there were squatters in the building when the owner attempted prior repairs. Staff (Amber Redden) said arrangements must be made to obtain a cashier’s check from the bank and to coordinate authorized signers before closing.
Board members discussed logistics; no vote to delay or cancel closing was recorded in the minutes. The closing date remains scheduled for Jan. 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
