The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County approved awarding the Friendship Road resurfacing contract to Oxford Construction for $358,750, following a bid opening and recommendation from SOWEGA Engineering.
SOWEGA documented the July 22 bid opening and submitted a recommendation for award after tabulating two responsive bids: Oxford Construction at $358,750 and Robinson Paving Company at $389,118.85. County staff in attendance at the bid opening included County Manager Tom Weaver and Public Works Director Tom Bickel, and SOWEGA engineer J. Paul Rakel recorded the results in a recommendation letter attached to the meeting record.
At the Aug. 5 meeting, Commissioner Damon Hoyte moved to approve Oxford as the winning bidder; Commissioner Timothy Biddle seconded the motion, and the vote was recorded as unanimous.
What happens next: County staff will proceed with contracting and scheduling work on Friendship Road under the LMIG project. The bid tabulation and SOWEGA recommendation are included in the public record.
