The Vermilion Civil Service Commission voted Feb. 5 to nominate Dave Doicker as chairperson for 2026 and to nominate Sue Brown as vice chair; both nominations were seconded and carried by recorded unanimous votes.
A committee member moved “that Dave Doicker be, nominated as chairperson for 2026,” and the motion was approved after each commissioner recorded a yes vote. The commission immediately followed with a nomination of Sue Brown for vice chair, which likewise passed unanimously.
Later in the meeting commissioners addressed an administrative personnel item: the sergeant eligibility list. The commission said the list had been active for one year and that rules permit an extension of up to two years; the police chief requested another one-year extension and commissioners voted to approve that extension.
Commissioners also agreed to meet in March to handle the certification for the chief’s appointment in light of a stated April 12 retirement date. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
