County approves vehicle repair and crack-seal rental, advertises 2026 roadside mowing bids

The Bartholomew County Commissioners on Jan. 12 approved several highway-related procurements and set the 2026 roadside mowing bid process in motion.
County Engineer Danny Hollander presented a sole quote to replace a transmission in a 2020 Sheriff's vehicle; Russ Hubler Automotive of North Vernon quoted $7,393.12. Commissioner Carl H. Lienhoop moved to accept the quote and the Board approved it unanimously; the cost will be paid from the Commissioners' CEDIT Automotive Account.
Hollander also presented rental quotes for a crack-and-seal machine (including material). Two quotes were read: Crafco of Evansville at $21,861.23 and SealMaster of Indianapolis at $29,250. Commissioner Lienhoop moved to accept the Crafco quote; the motion passed unanimously and the rental will be paid from Highway Department funds.
The Board approved a Notice to Bidders for the 2026 roadside mowing program covering all county roads divided by township. Advertisement dates are Jan. 14 and Jan. 21, 2026, with bids to be opened on Feb. 2, 2026. The project requires Indiana Form 95 (not Form 96), a $20,000 bid bond, and offers three- and five-year contract options; bid documents are available at the County Highway Department.
These actions were approved by unanimous votes of the commissioners.
