Cody Akeley, representing Williamsport Summerball, asked the commissioners for support to resurface the softball field and to purchase catchers equipment. He said resurfacing would make future maintenance simpler and estimated a portion of the cost at roughly $7,500 for the field work.
Commissioners discussed the countys donation fund balance, recent transfers and how previous donations (including $50,000 budgeted for donations) are allocated. After confirming fundraising plans and that Williamsport would also run a benefit event, a motion was made and seconded to transfer $7,500 from the countys donation line (4100) to Williamsport Summerball.
The motion passed by voice vote. Commissioners noted that the donation fund is reviewed annually and that funds allocated for donations are distinct from other town-specific distributions. Williamsport Summerball said it will supplement the donation with proceeds from their fundraiser and use the county contribution to cover resurfacing and equipment needs.
Commissioners thanked the volunteers and organizers for their work on youth recreation.
