Commissioners adopt motor vehicle-record checks, approve surplus sales and fund tech upgrades

The board approved multiple administrative measures at its regular meeting: a motor vehicle records (MVR) policy requested by the countys insurance provider, surplus declarations for highway equipment, an audiovisual upgrade for the commissioners meeting room, and funding for the GoGov county app.

A county representative explained the MVR policy (Resolution 20260217b) requires periodic checks of county drivers license records to reduce liability exposure. Commissioners described the policy as standard practice and approved the resolution by voice vote.

The highway department presented several 2005 International tandem trucks and a parts truck for surplus; staff explained the required public-advertising period and sale process. The board approved the surplus resolution (identified in the meeting as Resolution2026O217C) so staff can advertise and proceed with sale after the statutory notice period.

The commissioners also approved a $12,946 audiovisual package to add wireless microphones, Wi-Fi-enabled cameras and a simplified control system for recorded meetings. Commissioners discussed whether to fund the purchase from a technology upgrades line or county general funds and approved moving forward.

Finally, the board approved a $4,092 payment to continue the GoGov county app, noting about 400 current downloads and the potential to improve public information access and emergency alerts. Commissioners discussed coordinating updates between the app and the county website.

All administrative items were approved by voice vote during the meeting.
