Contractor: grant-funded emergency roof repairs at 5433 Ohio St will use white TPO; board approves

Jennifer Metler, a contractor with GenMet Construction LLC, told the Historic Design Review Board that she was presenting an emergency roof-repair application for 5433 Ohio Street and brought material samples for the board to inspect.
"My name is Jennifer Metler. I'm with GenMet Construction LLC," she said. Metler described the scope as replacement of a rear flat roof and associated gutters; the panel reviewed samples and installation details. She said the specification calls for a white TPO flat-roof membrane, an insulation board beneath the membrane and mechanical fastening, with seams heat-welded and terminations secured with a termination bar and cap nails.
Metler said the work is funded through grants administered by Great Lakes Community Action Partnership and referenced OHTF and CHIP funds. "The grant ends in February," she warned, adding that the team was "fighting against the weather and fighting against the deadline." She said the homeowner’s roof had been leaking for four years and that the project was awarded as an emergency to get the work completed this season.
Board members asked about visibility from the street and whether the new gutters would be seen; Metler said the affected flat-roof portion is at the rear and the white TPO and standard five-inch gutters would not be visible from the street. After questions about materials and installation, a member moved to approve the application and the board recorded the motion as carried.
The approval allows the contractor to proceed under the grant specifications; Metler noted that if the work could not be completed before the grant deadline the project might be rolled into the next grant round, which could delay funding for roughly six months.
