Commission adopts 2026 meeting and employee holiday calendars after split vote on work session time

At the Dec. 2 regular meeting the commission approved its 2026 calendar of regular meetings and adopted a 2026 employee holiday calendar.
A motion by Commissioner Jason Frost to hold work sessions at 4:00 p.m. prompted discussion about public access and staff availability; that motion failed on a 2–3 vote with Frost and Damon Hoyte in favor and Commissioners Timothy Biddle and Gerald Douglas opposed, and Chairman Charles Coffey casting the tie‑breaking vote against the 4 p.m. proposal. Commissioners later approved a motion to set work sessions for 9:00 a.m.; that motion carried with Commissioners Douglas, Biddle and Chairman Coffey voting in favor and Commissioners Frost and Hoyte opposed.
The commission also unanimously approved the employee holiday calendar, reappointed Thomas Weaver to the Two Rivers Regional Commission and adopted a retirement plan resolution to move county retirement accounts to the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia 457(b) and 401(a) plans effective Dec. 1, 2025.
The county clerk will publish the adopted calendar and holiday schedule; staff will post meeting times and any venue change notices as required.
