County manager reports road grants, landfill repairs and budget amendments at March work session

Weaver noted the 2025 SPLOST account has started receiving revenue and said weekly IGSA (intergovernmental services agreement) meetings are making progress. He told the board he and staff have begun departmental budget meetings and will bring six proposed quarterly amendments—totaling $294,725—from county reserves to the April 1 regular meeting. Weaver listed areas requiring adjustment, including property tax reimbursements, EMS salaries, prisoner housing, legal services and a coroner payroll correction.
Recreation director Mordie Askew provided department updates. Community development staffer Samantha Hedgecoke distributed a packet highlighting a rabies clinic scheduled for April 5, upcoming 4-H activities and a local car show. Weaver said he would have Hedgecoke and County Attorney Bin Minter draft cemetery committee bylaws and attend the Planning & Zoning meeting to clarify the conditional use permit process and timing for applicants.
The work session also reviewed technical bid packets for the Friendship Road LMIG project; commissioners agreed to keep the item on the work-session agenda for additional review before placing bids. The session adjourned at 9:44 a.m.
