Chattahoochee County commissioners approve GDOT maintenance agreement, authorize $1M CDBG application

The board voted unanimously to approve the GDOT agreement. Commissioner Damon Hoyte moved for approval and Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded the motion. The contract covers maintenance responsibilities for the Department’s right-of-way between mileposts described in the agreement, and the attached Exhibit A specifies detailed maintenance tasks for landscaped roundabout and sidewalk areas, including watering, pruning, weed control, mowing and sidewalk repair responsibilities.
The CDBG action was recorded in two related votes. Commissioner Jason Frost moved to authorize the county to file a FY2025 CDBG application for a community facilities program not to exceed $1,000,000; Commissioner Douglas seconded. In a separate motion, the board approved a resolution obligating $47,500 from county funds to satisfy grant match/leveraging requirements; that motion was moved and seconded by Commissioners Douglas and Frost. Both motions passed unanimously.
Commissioners also moved and unanimously approved a motion by Commissioner Frost, seconded by Commissioner Douglas, to table the Friendship Road LMIG bidding item for review at a future work session.
The meeting entered executive session at 9:11 a.m. to discuss legal matters; the board reconvened at 9:20 a.m. Chairman Charles Coffey stated the subjects discussed were within the legal exceptions to Georgia’s open meetings law and that no votes were taken during the closed session. The regular meeting was adjourned at 9:24 a.m.
