Bartholomew County Commissioners elect Tony London chair, approve 2026 appointments and liaisons

Bartholomew County Commissioners on Jan. 5 unanimously elected Commissioner Tony London as the board's chairman for 2026 and approved the county's slate of office-holder appointments and liaison assignments for the year.
Auditor Pia O'Connor opened the meeting, led the invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioner Larry Kleinhenz nominated London for chair; Commissioner Carl Lienhoop seconded the nomination and the board voted unanimously to elect him. Following the election, Commissioner Kleinhenz read the county ppointments for 2026, which include Dean Satterfield as Animal Control Officer; Michelle Cox as Chief Code Enforcement Officer; Rick Trimpe as Building and Maintenance Supervisor; Danny Hollander as County Engineer; Amanda Velez as Youth Services nurse practitioner; and James A. Shoaf as County Attorney. Commissioners approved those appointments unanimously.
Commissioner Carl Lienhoop read the list of reappointments and new members to the county's boards and commissions, including slots on the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Redevelopment Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Health Board, Solid Waste Management District Board, and others. Commissioner Tony London then read the commissioners' liaison assignments for 2026, naming commissioners to local and regional bodies such as the Columbus Area Economic Growth Council and the Columbus Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. Each set of appointments and liaison assignments was approved by unanimous vote.
The actions establish who will represent Bartholomew County on intergovernmental and advisory bodies through 2026 and delegate contacts for recurring county business. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Monday, Jan. 12, 2026.
