In a report read at the meeting, County Counsel said the board approved settlements for claimants linked to the 2024 airport fire that together amount to $6,500,000 and accepted the Robeson family’s counteroffer of $3,000,000, both subject to final approvals. Counsel also said the board approved a proposed $60,000 settlement in Leticia Romero v. County of Orange, a trip‑and‑fall case at the county civic center, and approved a proposed $4,500,000 settlement with T‑Mobile for damages the county attributed to the 2020 Silverado fire.
Those actions were reported as taken in closed session under the Government Code items listed on the day’s closed‑session agenda. County counsel said when the settlement agreements are finalized, copies will be made available through the office of the CEO — Risk Management or County Counsel for inspection.
The county’s report said some votes on those matters were recorded as 4‑0 with one supervisor absent; the settlements remain subject to the final approvals required by the settlement process.
The board did not take further public debate on the closed‑session report at the time it was announced. The county’s clerk and the CEO’s offices were listed as the contact points for finalized agreements when they become available.
