Fulton County Commissioners on Feb. 24 approved a proclamation declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and met with local providers and residents for the signing.
The proclamation, approved by a motion from Commissioner Hervey P. Hann and adopted unanimously, commends the observance and recognizes the value of inclusion, stating that "Fulton County becomes a better place when people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities." Commissioners and attendees posed for a group photograph after the signing.
Representatives from local agencies and programs attended, including Marissa Hockenberry (Occupational Services Inc.), Erica Ramsey (CRI), Rebecca Weaver (Franklin/Fulton IDD Program Specialist), staff and residents from Full Circle Residence, Leigh-Anna and Ian Lupey (Lupey Behavioral Services), Julia/Julie Dovey (Fulton County human services), and local Arc representatives Lorrie Miller, Lisa Grimes, Wendy Buckwalter and Lana Crouse. Logan Crouse was listed as a consumer present. Faye and Keith Butts also attended.
No formal policy decisions or funding commitments were recorded in the meeting minutes tied to the proclamation.
The proclamation will be observed during March 2026 as declared by the Board.
