Tipton County commissioners approve minutes, elect notaries and adopt 2026 Official Road List

Honorable Jeff Huffman, County Executive, presided over the Tipton County Legislative Body meeting at the Tipton County Justice Center in Covington on Feb. 9, 2026, which opened at 6:00 p.m. The body recorded a quorum with 14 commissioners present and four absent.
The legislative body approved the minutes of the January 2026 term on a motion by Commissioner Walker A. Adams, seconded by Commissioner Justin Gangaware, passed by voice vote. On a motion by Commissioner David Copeland, seconded by Commissioner Jonathan Murphy, the body elected nine notaries public for the term prescribed by law: Ashley Adkins, Melody Legg, Krystal Blair, Marnie Myers, Sally A. Carver, Mark Rewalt, Muranda Depew, Tammi H. Skaff and Jammie Griggs.
Commissioner Courtney Fee moved and Commissioner Michael W. Naifeh seconded approval of the Finance and Administration Committee report; the motion passed on voice vote. Commissioner James "Jimbo" Adkins moved and Commissioner Rusty Wooten seconded a motion to approve the Public Works Committee report and to adopt the 2026 Official Road List; that motion also passed by voice vote. Commissioner Jonathan Murphy moved and Commissioner Cecil Watson seconded approval of the General Welfare Committee report, which was accepted by voice vote.
On a motion by Commissioner Randy M. Roe, seconded by Commissioner James "Jimbo" Adkins, the Sheriff's report was approved by voice vote. The meeting record notes submission of the General Sessions report for January 2026 by General Sessions Judge M.O. Eckel III and a report submitted by the Tipton County Trustee; both reports were entered into the minutes.
The legislative body adjourned on a motion by Commissioner Rusty Wooten, seconded by Commissioner David Copeland; the meeting was declared adjourned at 6:23 p.m.
