Big Horn County names Deb Craft 2025 commission chairman; commission approves payroll, bills and routine actions

Deb Craft was selected as chairman of the Big Horn County Commission for 2025 after Commissioner Dave Neves nominated her at the board's Jan. 7 meeting in the county courthouse in Basin.
The meeting opened at 9 a.m. under Chairman Bruce Jolley. Neves moved to accept the meeting agenda as amended; the motion was seconded and carried. When nominations for chair were called, Neves nominated Commissioner Deb Craft, the motion was seconded and carried, making Craft the commission’s chair for calendar year 2025.
The commission approved accounts payable and payroll after Deputy County Clerks Marquerite VanDyke and Carol Willard presented a detailed AP list. Chairman Jolley moved to approve the AP and payroll items as presented; the motion was seconded and carried.
Other routine administrative actions approved by motion or by consensus included the reappointment of J. Call, L. Hamilton and T. Beck to the Big Horn County Weed and Pest Board; ratification of a $2,880 change order for the North Garage door; ratification of a bilateral settlement agreement with Wyoming Workforce Services; approval of the Dec. 17, 2024 minutes; and execution of a release from Mountain State Farm Bureau Insurance related to damage to Road 8 bridge. The commission also approved a letter of support for a TCT Bead Grant application.
County Clerk Lori Smallwood presented the county’s official 2025 depositories as provided by Treasurer N. Vigil; the commission approved them as presented. Financial statements for county offices and bond filings for two local entities were acknowledged in the “good of the county” portion of the meeting.
The meeting concluded after commissioners advanced the remaining agenda items and scheduled follow-ups where staff indicated additional information would be required.
