Board approves consent calendar, contracts and schedules building-code adoption; several routine motions carry

At its Oct. 28 meeting the Orange County Board of Supervisors approved a broad consent calendar of routine contracts, amendments and supplemental allocations and scheduled final action on a multi-code ordinance for Nov. 4.
Among actions the board approved: job-order contracts for building and mechanical services for the Sheriff-Coroner's offices; a contract for commercial lighting services; an amendment for field-reporting software subscriptions; amendments to health-care and behavioral-health service contracts; multiple OC Waste & Recycling contracts including landfill electrical improvements and heavy-equipment maintenance; and several resolutions establishing traffic controls and speed limits.
The board also set a public hearing and adoption date (11/04/2025) for item 27, a first-reading ordinance to adopt the 2025 editions of model building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical and fire codes with local amendments; staff made CEQA-exemption findings under the cited guidelines at the hearing.
Supplemental discretionary allocations (26a–26g) were approved, including district event sponsorships and a $30,000 allocation in the 3rd District for the Children’s Education Foundation of Orange County. The board approved grant applications and awards listed in the Oct. 28 grant report and authorized contract amendments where staff recommended them.
