Board approves master agreement for OC Animal Care Services; public speaker urges follow-up on shelter strategic plan

The Board of Supervisors approved a master agreement authorizing OC Community Resources to continue contracts for OC Animal Care Services and to allow the director to execute individual agreements and make minor changes under specified conditions.
During public comment, Michael M. of Irvine thanked the board for shelter improvements and urged follow-through on the shelter’s 2018 strategic plan. "The plan is there. We just need to work on implementation," he said.
Supervisor Nguyen supported approval while asking staff to return with a report within 30 days on where the office stands with implementing the strategic plan. "I'm hoping maybe if you can give us a report in the next 30 days on where you're at with that," Nguyen said.
Supervisor Vincent Sarmiento also praised community involvement in improvements and urged periodic public reporting of compliance and metrics so the public can see progress.
After comments and a motion, Chair Doug Chaffee called for any objection; with none, item 4 was approved.
The board’s action authorizes continuations and renewals under the master agreement; supervisors asked staff to provide follow-up reporting on strategic-plan implementation and compliance metrics.
