Portage County Health Services Board approves grants, contracts and 2026 fee schedule; moves to closed session

At its December meeting the Portage County Health Services Board approved several routine and programmatic actions, including grant acceptances, contracting authority for 2026 and a new fee schedule.
The board unanimously approved minutes from Dec. 15, 2025, then moved and voted to accept a relative-and-kin caregiver support funding grant. The board next approved acceptance of a Divisions of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS) 2025–26 drug checking technologies program grant that includes a credit applied for Narcan. Staff explained how the grant credit is calculated (the meeting recorded a notional value of $9,900 based on distributor pricing) and how Narcan doses will be distributed, including via the public health vending machine, LifePoint and local smoke and vape shops.
On contracts, staff reported no new contracts under $25,000 beyond ongoing renewals (notifications only) and no contracts in the $25,000–$100,000 band. The board approved a resolution authorizing 2026 contracts over $100,000 for Health and Human Services and discussed the importance of community partners such as the Boys & Girls Club and gateway diversion programs in delivering services and reducing youth justice referrals.
The board also approved the department's 2026 fee schedule. Gary (agency staff) said modest increases reflect updated state administrative code APCP 72, effective in December, which introduced new lodging categories (for example, primitive cabins and yurts) and a state surcharge component underpinning county fee adjustments.
Following these approvals, the chair entertained a motion and the board voted to enter closed session.
