Commissioners approve payroll, appointments, investment policy and grader leases; several large vendor checks cleared

At its Feb. 16 meeting the Parke County Board of Commissioners approved multiple routine financial and administrative items, including release of county payroll, departmental appointments, an updated investment policy and equipment leases.
The board approved county payroll of $195,084.34 and acknowledged an accounts-payable report of $210,411.80. Auditor Susan Kramer presented a letter appointing Commissioner Dan Collom to the West Central Solid Waste District board for 2026 and naming George Nichols as his proxy; the board approved the appointment. Treasurer Kim Shorter explained the 2026 Investment Policy, noting the only change from last year is the addition of Riddell Bank; the policy was adopted.
Chris Novotney of West Side Tractor presented 2026 grader leases for the highway department and the board approved three out-of-cycle checks: $61,722.50 to West Side Tractor, $258,867.90 to John Deere Financial, and $61,722.50 to PowerPlan. Motions to approve these items carried unanimously.
