Parke County to manage Vermillion County ambulance service; EMS reports revenue above $1 million

Parke County commissioners on Feb. 16 approved a contract for Parke County to manage Vermillion County’s ambulance services and authorized Board President Jim Meece to sign the completed agreement via DocuSign. Commissioner Bruce Hartman moved to approve the contract and Commissioner Dan Collom seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Julie Lanzone, representing Parke County Ambulance, told the board that call volume is roughly consistent with last year and that Parke County EMS collected more than $1 million in revenue in the past year. Vermillion County owns two ambulances, is buying a third and has increased monthly payments to Parke County to help cover managed-service expenses, Lanzone said.
Nick Sauter reviewed that the original tri-county arrangement was expected to auto-renew but did not do so; the renewed contract will now auto-renew on Jan. 1 going forward. The board authorized final signatures and continuation of managed services.
