County staff explained the carryover covers multiple program areas and requires no additional local match. At the meeting a supervisor outlined the three "pots" of money included in the total: roughly $1.4 million for tutoring funds, almost $1 million for infrastructure and operations, and the remainder as direct state aid for public education. A representative of the school board said staff are available to answer questions and walked the board through the breakdown.
Supervisors asked clarifying questions about composition and use of funds; staff said the request is to reappropriate funds into the current fiscal year and that detailed line-item breakdowns were available in the packet. After brief discussion, a supervisor moved and seconded the request and the board approved the reappropriation by voice vote.
No additional local funding was required, and staff indicated the reappropriation allows the school system to continue planned tutoring, infrastructure and education programs in FY 2024-25. The board scheduled the formal public hearing and made arrangements to receive public comment at the advertised hearing date.
