Parke County approves $25,000 for festival tents and hears economic development impact report

The Parke County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 20 approved a $25,000 payment to Parke County Incorporated to cover tent rentals for the 2025 Covered Bridge Festival in Mecca, Montezuma and Tangier, with the remaining funds to help Rockville rentals.
At the meeting, Cyndi Todd presented Partnership Parke County, Inc.'s 2025 impact report and emphasized the group's work on business retention, grants, housing, childcare, infrastructure and job retention across the county. "For every $1 invested in Partnership Parke County, Inc. over the past 11 years has generated $32 in investment," Todd said.
President Jim Meece thanked the organization for its involvement in the community. The tent-payment approval was presented as an administrative allocation to support festival logistics; the board did not attach additional program conditions at the meeting.
The actions come amid broader county discussion of economic-development supports and upcoming state funding for lane-mileage road projects that officials said will affect future local infrastructure planning. The county will review vendor invoices and contracts as part of normal procurement and accounting procedures.
