Lee County board approves acceptance and distribution of state employee bonus funds

County staff said the money is state funding that will pass through the county’s payroll system via the Department of Social Services so that the county general fund will not be used. "This is state money that's been passed down," a staff member explained, and staff confirmed the funds are already in the county account and ready for distribution after the board signs the ordinance.
After discussion there were no public objections. A supervisor moved to approve the resolution; the motion was seconded and the board voted in favor. Board members described the action as administrative—allowing the county to accept and distribute state‑provided payments to eligible employees.
The board’s action authorizes county staff to finalize and return the ordinance to the state and to disperse the payments to employees, with distribution expected after July 1.
