Glacier County commissioners table Cut Bank Regional Airport mill-levy resolution pending clarified numbers

Glacier County commissioners voted Feb. 3 to table Resolution 2026-03, the proposed mill-levy ballot measure for Cut Bank Regional Airport, after airport officials said the county and city need to reconcile differing funding numbers before filing. The motion to table was made by a commissioner (speaker 1) and seconded by the chair (speaker 2); it passed on a voice vote.

Rick Geiger of the Airport Board told commissioners the state awarded runway maintenance funding and that the package for the runway work "was about $500,000 project altogether," and that the state had put roughly $300,000 toward terminal refurbishment. Geiger said some grant disbursements that had been expected from Great Falls had not yet been paid, and he asked staff and city representatives to coordinate final numbers so the board could have accurate figures before the filing deadline.

Commissioners noted a March filing window and asked airport and city staff to provide a specific schedule so the item can be returned to the board prior to the deadline. A motion to table the resolution was recorded as "to table Resolution 2026-03, Cut Bank Regional Airport, Mill Levy election" and approved by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the minutes.

Next steps: county staff and the airport authority were asked to reconcile the figures and resubmit the item for a future meeting so the board can consider placing the mill-levy on the ballot.
