Glacier County Commission ends local emergency for wind event, adopts Resolution 2025-2022

Glacier County commissioners on Tuesday ratified Resolution 2025-2022, formally terminating a local emergency that had been declared for a wind event on Dec. 17.

A staff member explained that a principal executive officer declaration had been enacted on Dec. 17 to cover the county's response to storm-related impacts. A commissioner asked whether the governor had declared a statewide emergency for nearby areas including Liberty County or the Blackfeet Reservation; staff replied that the tribe had declared an emergency for the affected community and that neither the state nor federal governments had issued a statewide declaration.

Commissioner S2 moved to rescind or "resend" the Glacier County principal executive officers' determination of the local emergency for the wind event and later moved to pass Resolution 2025-2022, "Glacier County Termination of Local Emergency." Another commissioner seconded. The commission called for public comment, heard none, and approved the resolution by voice vote; commissioners indicated "Aye." The motion to resend the prior determination also passed by voice vote.

The resolution formalizes the end of the county's local emergency declaration tied to the wind event and clears the county record, staff said. No public comment was recorded during the discussion. The commission adjourned after setting its next meeting for Dec. 31, 2025.
