Commissioners approve payment of $6,560.84 overage for jail electronic locking system

Glacier County commissioners voted Tuesday to approve payment of a $6,560.84 overage invoiced by Corrections Technology Group for work replacing the jail’s electronic locking system.
Sheriff Tom Seifert said the federal appropriation that funded the project covered the bulk of the work but the contractor encountered unexpected damage to contacts, switches and wiring that required additional labor and materials. "They did a fantastic job," Seifert told the board, commending the contractor’s on-site work and 24-hour support capability.
Seifert said the county has a maintenance contract with the vendor and has begun budgeting for annual service. A commissioner moved to approve the change-order/final invoice and the motion passed on a voice vote; no detailed roll-call tally was recorded in the discussion.
Seifert also said he submitted an appropriations request to Congressman Zinke's office for roughly $330,000 to replace vehicles and hopes to hear back by year’s end.
