At a meeting in Browning on Nov. 25, the Glacier County commissioners voted to table consideration of a proposed cyber insurance policy pending answers from the underwriter. Jay, a county staff member who is coordinating with the insurer, said he had forwarded Judd's questions to Lacey, the Travelers underwriter, and that Lacey was working on the cyber quote and would provide responses "ASAP." Jay told the board he would forward the underwriter's answers to Mike, Chancey and Judd and circulate the policy introduction and definition pages requested by commissioners.
Commissioners discussed technical questions about coverage limits and controls. When one commissioner asked whether artificial intelligence posed a specific vulnerability for cyber coverage, Jay acknowledged potential AI-related risks and said his organization has been evaluating limited AI tools; he also noted that "Glacier County was looking at implementing some of those things as well."
The board agreed to postpone final action until the underwriter's written answers are received and reviewed. Jay said the item could be revisited at the board's Dec. 2 or Dec. 4 meeting once the insurer's clarifications arrive. The motion to table is recorded as "table cyber insurance until underwriter answers are received."
