The Town of Cramerton Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 20 to continue a $5,000 operations grant for the Cramerton Historical Society (CHS).

Commissioner Atkinson observed that grant funds often purchase displays and other items that could revert to the town; Attorney Karen Wolter said she had reviewed the CHS bylaws and can draft lease language or other agreements to ensure town access to loaned or purchased items. Commissioner Helms asked for assurance that the town would retain access to assets; the attorney said the CHS can amend its bylaws and may distribute assets to the town or another charitable organization consistent with the bylaws. Mayor Pro Tempore Neeley moved to continue the $5,000 operations grant; Commissioner Ramsey seconded the motion, and the minutes record a 5–0 vote in favor.
Commissioner Atkinson thanked the board for supporting the CHS programs, including the fourth-grade field trip described earlier in the meeting. The minutes show the board accepted continued operations funding while staff and the attorney explore lease language and asset-protection options.
