The Nevada State Board of Nursing approved a set of education items and reviewed NCLEX performance data during its Jan. 14–15 meeting.
Michelle Johnson, Director of Nursing Education, presented the 4th-quarter and end‑of‑year NCLEX first‑time pass rates and noted Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) pass‑rate variability. The board discussed factors that can depress pass rates, including program growth outpacing instructor capacity.
The board approved Dr. Jessica Burnett as Interim Dean and Program Administrator for Galen University Las Vegas campus. Carrington College–Las Vegas was moved from provisional to full approval with a board‑directed site visit in March 2026 and continued oversight of pass rates and improvement plans. The board approved Mesa View Regional Hospital’s initial Nursing Assistant Training Program application and appointed Dr. Tami Little as Interim Dean for Nevada Career Institute’s ADN program; motions passed.
Board members approved several routine 6‑month program reports under the consent agenda and instructed staff to continue monitoring outcomes as programs implement improvement plans.
