Nemaha County commissioners adopt subdivision resolution, approve appraisal and service contracts and routine reports

Commissioner Mike Hall moved and Chairman Michael Weiss seconded adoption of Resolution #2025-14, which approves a subdivision for the Robert H. Teten First Trust located in Section 20 T6N R14E; the board recorded roll-call votes in favor (Weiss, aye; Hall, aye) and adopted the resolution.
The board approved a contract with Vanguard Appraisals Inc. to provide commercial property valuation services for Nemaha County. The motion to approve and sign the Vanguard contract passed on a roll-call vote (Weiss, aye; Hall, aye). The board also approved an agreement for EPC services with Region 5 Systems covering July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026; that motion passed on a roll-call vote (Weiss, aye; Hall, aye).
Commissioners approved semi-annual leave reports (vacation, compensatory time and sick leave) for county employees and signed a Letter of Confirmation for audit services with the Nebraska State Auditor of Public Accounts for FY2024–2025; both items passed on recorded roll-call votes.
An agenda item to sign an interlocal agreement with Auburn Public Schools was tabled, as was review/decision on the Floodplain Administrator contract (options listed: Midwest Engineering Inc. or hiring Jeff Rowell as a part-time employee). The board reviewed a court order in K-2 Real Estate Development v. Nemaha County but took no recorded action on that matter during the session.
On equipment and procurement matters, the board approved the purchase of two computer monitors for the County Clerk’s office; the purchase will be reimbursed by the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office. The motor grader bid specifications were reviewed and verified; bids will be solicited with an advertised bid opening on August 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Highway items were listed for future action, including FEMA-DR-4420-NE projects (Dan Alexander referenced) and discussion on replacing Bridge C006423450 on 722 Road east of 650 Avenue; no final decisions were recorded in the transcript.
The board authorized payment of claims and payroll across county funds (general and road payrolls were recorded in the claims list as $79,058.55 and $22,398.46 respectively) and recorded individual vendor payments.
