Anaconda-Deer Lodge County commissioners on Thursday approved a package of administrative items ranging from equipment procurement to personnel and community events.
The commission awarded the 2026 police vehicle package to the Dodge Durango configuration recommended by the chief of police. Commissioner Hart disclosed that his son serves with the police department but said he did not believe the relation precluded his vote; Hart moved to award the bid, the motion was seconded and the commission approved the award.
The commission also approved a revised seasonal elections assistant job description (a 400–900 hour seasonal position) to be posted for bid, and approved renewal of the 2025–26 inmate excess medical insurance/claims administration agreement (an excess policy over $10,000) that county officials described as an important safeguard for high-cost inmate medical bills.
County officials approved a task order for the Department of Health’s Personal Responsibility Education Program, allocating approximately $4,500 in recurring annual funds for the program. The commission approved an annual clinical affiliate agreement to host student nurses from the Sherry Lazar School of Nursing at Montana Tech in Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Public Health.
Commissioners also approved two special events: Discover Anaconda’s Christmas Stroll (Nov. 28, 2025) and the Joggin’ Hard fundraiser for the high school cross-country team (Nov. 27, 2025), and accepted the written resignation of Charlie Farmer from the Parks and Recreation Board; the seat is a school-district-recommended position and the board will request a new recommendation.
Votes on these routine items passed with the commission’s recorded assent. The awards and approvals were presented as part of the commission’s consent/unfinished-business agenda and carried without substantive controversy beyond the conflict disclosure for the vehicle purchase.
What’s next: Staff will post the seasonal elections assistant position for bid and proceed with contract processing and event permitting; the county will seek the school-district recommendation to fill the Parks and Recreation Board vacancy.
