Orange County supervisors remove Andrew Doe from committee and OCTA assignments

The Orange County Board of Supervisors on Sept. 10 unanimously approved amendments to the chairman’s 2024 appointments that removed Supervisor Andrew Doe from multiple committee and commission assignments and included his removal from the county’s seat on the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA).
Supervisor Katrina Foley opened discussion saying the public action was limited to committee reassignments — "we are not allowed to remove him from office" — and that removing assignments was a transparency step the board could take while other investigations continue. Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento said the board was acting deliberately and reluctantly in light of the situation surrounding the supervisor.
Chairman Wagner amended the original motion to specifically include OCTA and to change Doe’s placement as an alternate on a county emergency council; the board confirmed the amendment and carried the motion unanimously.
The supervisors clarified that removing committee assignments does not remove an elected official from office, which would require action by other authorities. The board also said a separate censure item (S22d) was being continued to a later meeting to allow fuller public consideration.
The board’s action repopulated the committees and reassigned duties to other supervisors for the time being; no further punitive removal from elected office was taken at the meeting.
